AVAILABLE ON KINDLE!!!!

'Rotten Apples' is my first novel.  It has taken me around 4 years to complete (full time work came first!) and I have to say, it has been great fun to create.

Below is the cover and the synopsis for the novel.  The cover has been designed by Richard Stansfield.  A big, huge THANK YOU to Richard for bringing the characters to life.

If you do not have a Kindle, you can still read 'Rotten Apples'.  If you go to Amazon Kindle Store, they have free apps for ipad, iphone, android and PC.  If you do read and enjoy it, I would be grateful if you could write a brief review on Amazon.

Rotten Apples

By Paul Harris

Jimmy Conway leaves London to escape from his ex-wife and miserable job. He purchases a garage in the Somerset village of Middle Winston. Whilst the garage is 'in need of modernisation', it is his. Jimmy can live the quiet life and become part of the community. Things start off well when he befriends Sophie, (the Pub Landlord's daughter) and LIPS the Spar-checkout dude.

To any passer-by, Middle Winston is your typical picture-postcard village. However no one ever stays long enough to find out what really lies beneath the carefully crafted facade. The truth is darker than the West Country weather.

Middle Winston is run by Granny Smith. This sweet old dear is the head of one of the largest criminal organisations in the country, all run from her rocking-chair. Her ragtag army includes the Vicar (her number one hit man), George (the short feisty Pub Landlord), the brothers Dimm, Flour (the Baker), Bob (the Farmer), Donk (the Aussie backpacker) and a few more yokels.

Granny has a large shipment of drugs that she needs to deliver to her American friends and Jimmy's arrival poses a problem. To solve this potential inconvenience, Granny hijacks Jimmy's deliveries of petrol, which leads him to discover more about 'village life'. As a final resort she sends the Vicar to read him his last rites.

Escaping the Vicar Jimmy falls into the arms of 'The Agency' which is led by Major Mallory, who has made it his mission in life to bring Granny down. Other members of 'The Agency' include Sophie, a team of highly trained commandos, and Van Wyke (a South African wanna-be-rock-star tank commander). Jimmy is now a pawn in a very dangerous chess game.

The information Jimmy has on Granny is not enough for the Major to take her down, so he needs some bait to trap her and Jimmy unwittingly obliges, with his determination to leave the sanctuary of the Agency and Somerset.

Jimmy is almost free of the village but a police road block throws him into danger yet again. The corrupt police chief is another rotten apple and he kidnaps Jimmy, handing him over to Granny.

Major Mallory springs into action and launches an offensive attacking the barn where they are holding him. He feels guilty for using Jimmy, but now he has the reason he needed to go after her.

Granny, the Vicar and a couple of lucky locals escape the shoot out at the barn and head for the safety of the Limping Jester. Jimmy is re-united with Major Mallory and his team, despite almost being tortured to death by the Vicar. This time however, Jimmy decides it is safer to stay with the Major rather than go it alone.

The finale comes in a flurry of bullets and bombs, as Middle Winston and Granny's empire crumbles and comes to a bloody end.

Tired and battle weary after a personal one on one with the Vicar, Jimmy is taken to 'The Agency's' Headquarters where he spends time recuperating and getting to know Sophie. The romance is cut short as Jimmy is drafted into the witness protection program. Wherever he is going he must go alone.
